Kathy Thrush is a Principal with Particular Solutions, Inc. with a diverse background in surface chemistry and nanotechnology, including surface characterization and modification. Her wide technological expertise includes: materials for the electronics industry, environmental catalysis, zeolite chemistry, surface chemistry, ion-exchange, inorganic synthesis, product scale-up and manufacturing. This extensive background makes her a much sought after consultant and lecturer.

Dr. Thrush was most recently at Cabot Corporation as a Senior Research Associate, where she was the only chemist on the Barium Titanate Team. She managed all of the product testing and process chemistry for custom materials used in the manufacture of high-end capacitors. She established and managed a remote testing laboratory at the manufacturing facility, which improved / developed stringent test methods that significantly enhanced the reliability of the manufacturing process. Her contributions to the process chemistry of custom formulations resulted in four patent filings, covering particle coating, additive generation and isomorphic substitution into crystal structures.

Before Cabot, Dr. Thrush worked for the PQ Corporation, Engelhard Corporation and Exxon Chemical Company where she conducted exploratory research, product scale-up and materials characterization, advancing many products towards commercialization. During her tenure at Engelhard she was awarded four U.S. patents.

With her over 20 years of experience in surface chemistry and fine particles she assists clients with product development needs.

Kathy earned both a B.S. in Chemistry and a B.A. in Mathematics from Oakland University and a Ph. D. in Chemistry from The University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Thrush serves on the Board of the Philadelphia Section of the American Chemical Society (one of the largest sections of the ACS), is on the Management Team of the Northeastern Montgomery County Branch of the American Association of University Women, is Chair of the Philadelphia ACS Section's Women Chemists Committee and is President-Elect of the Delaware Valley Science Council.
